The East Texas Down Syndrome Group provides information, education, and moral support to families in East Texas. There are many activities throughout the year that allow our families to get together and share our experiences with each other and build friendships. There are bi-monthly meetings to discuss ideas for fellowship, education or training opportunities for our members. We host a "New Member Coffee", the Spring Fling Family Picnic, the Buddy Walk, which is an event held every October to promote awareness and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome. We also organize play-dates for our toddlers, youth and teen outings, and special gatherings for our adults.
ETDSG publishes a monthly newsletter, Earthbound Angels, which has proven to be our best means of communication.
ETDSG is also are able to provide scholarships to families wanting to attend a national Down syndrome conference each summer and provide emergency family assistance in times of need.
ETDSG provides gift packages containing information on Down syndrome, resources in the East Texas area, and items of inspiration and encouragement to new families in our area.
ETDSG maintains a library, providing a wide array of books, videos, and other resource material on current topics related to Down syndrome.
There is no membership fee, and all of these programs and resources are available to our members at no charge. ETDSG is a nonprofit organization, whose income is based solely on donations given throughout the year and the Buddy Walk.
